The Judy's Story
In 1972 Jerry and Judy Shelton opened a small candy store in the hear of downtown San Francisco and Judy’s Candy was born.   Working with two small mixing kettles and a marble slab table, Jerry made rich chocolate fudge and creamy caramels while Judy dipped candy apples and molded popcorn balls.    The demand for their hand made chocolates and caramels soon outgrew their small storefront and in 1979 they decided to devoter their business to wholesale manufacturing, opening a factory across the bay in Berkeley.

Today, Judy still visits the kitchens and lends her experienced hand to the traditional candy making, while her daughter Mary runs the company.  Many of Judy’s employees have been with the company for nearly 40 years and the staff is treated like revered members of the family.   The warm scent of butter, caramel and sugar greets you the moment you enter the door at Judy’s.    Caramels are still stirred in handsome copper kettles that date to the 1920’s, sitting on ancient Vulcan burners with ornamental claw feet.  Premium nuts are freshly roasted, rich toffee cools in their racks and delicious caramels are still cut by hand.

Judy’s Candy continues to blend tradition with fresh ingredients and fresh ideas.  Their selection of nut brittles, handmade caramels, chocolates and clusters showcase old fashioned values, handmade quality and mouthwatering taste.  Classic packaging, point of sale displays, value pricing and trade programs offer strong branding and support for our retail partners.
